After researching some people suggested that you needed to use amazons power supply - but I already was using amazons. I tried one with a higher wattage and the firestick made it past the boot loop - but it still randomly rebooted or playback would stop suddenly.
So I figured 'hey maybe just some bad luck I will return it and get another'. The person I talked with for firestick support did not understand what a boot loop was, and their solution pressing back and down did not fix anything because the device rebooted before reaching the repair boot sequence.
Eventually the agreed to send a replacement but the replacement I received operated the same way. I will be returning both.

Netflix and Spotify apps open very fast, much faster than on my STB and work very well. Remote latency is almost non existent.
